Note that these combinations need to be done reasonably quickly (the next button in the sequence needs to be hit within a second). Actually, you have to go faster than that, because the second starts as soon as the move is detected, so moving both sticks to the center starts the one second countdown, NOT when the sticks return from the center.
Bring up menu - this includes change level, play movie and game state (power level).
Push the left stick and right stick towards and away from
each other,
hit a, hit b,
click the right stick button,
click the left stick button
Benefits: Allows access to the entire game, because
you can change to any level, set your Axion powers to any level, and allows you
to see all the movies, thus revealing all of the story.
Problems: Allows access to entire game! So player can buy game, jump around, and
return game, without really experiencing the game.
Notes: The levels have internal names which are not
documented anywhere. There is no
consistent structure to where you end up in a level, although all landing spots
are believed to be safe.
Three menus come up
with this cheat:
Change Level…
Play Movie…
Game State…
Scroll up and down
with the dpad, and then press start to bring up submenus or activate an
item. Press back to back out of the
menus.
WARNING: Once you select a movie, it will loop
forever! Danger!
Here are the details
on each menu item:
Change Level …
brings up a list of levels. The levels
have internal names. Here is a list
that maps the internal name to something gamers might recognize:

A3 – Water
collectors

Air Guardian
Airship – Balthazar

Play Movie … you
will have to reset your Xbox after playing a movie; these are Bink movies
Game State … let’s
you change your elemental power levels – press start after selecting a menu
item to cycle through them.
(Hint: game too hard? Set all of your elemental powers to 3 and then you can
concentrate on solving just the puzzles.)
- Cheats full powers and health - restores you to full energy for your powers and full health
Hold the dpad left, move the right stick in a half circle started on the right moving up and ending on the left. Release the dpad, hit a, hit x
Benefits: Player can restore his health and elemental power.
Problems: None, really. Just makes the game easier.
- Combat god mode - can't get hit by critters. This is a toggle. Also, there is no indication you are in god mode.
Hit x,
hit black,
hit white,
hit right and left triggers together,
hit the stick buttons together.
Benefits: Allows you
to cruise by tough battles and survive some falls. Can sometimes help people who use the save anywhere cheat in a
place where lots of monsters spawn (see that cheat below).
Problems: If you fall into a place where you are expected to die, you’ll be trapped, for instance, at the bottom of a deep pit.
- Debug camera - basically this activates the debug camera and you get out of it by hitting the back button on the controller
Hit the right trigger,
dpad down,
dpad up,
dpad down,
dpad up,
right stick button,
left stick button
Benefits: Let’s you fly around a level while it is
frozen; you can use this just to enjoy the scenery or to look for gems and
obsidians you couldn’t find.
Problems: you can fly out of the level and see
backstage stuff, or find untextured stuff not normally visible in gameplay.
Notes: It’s fun, it runs 60 fps almost all the
time, all the particles and what-not are frozen and fun to fly around, you can
examine our high-poly critters and see that they really are high-poly.
- Gem mode
- in gem mode you can get earth, air, fire, water, and obsidian gems by
hitting the 4pack and black. Any other button pops you out of gem
mode.
dpad right, dpad left,
hit a,
hit b,
hit a,
hit b,
dpad right, dpad left
Benefits: You can increase your elemental power
storage and get all the obsidians through a cheat. Make the game easier, but doesn’t really break the game like the
first cheat does, which opens up the whole game.
Problems: It is
possible you might create more gems than anyone has ever created before and
crash the game. I think this was tested
but not too extensively.
- Big head mode - Azurik gets an inflated ego
Right stick button,
right trigger,
dpad down, dpad up,
hit a
Benefits: Traditional “big head” mode in many console
games. Doesn’t break anything we know
of.
- Debug
Lighting –
Hit a,
right stick button,
hit b,
right sticking button,
left stick button
Benefits: Turns on debug lighting, which makes dark
caverns easier to see. Helpful on dark
TVs or for people who can’t remember to use their fire power to see into dark
areas.
Problems: Less
dramatic lighting, although some people prefer the simplified lighting.
Notes: I think this
is a toggle.
- Afro
cheat -
Pad down,
pad right,
hit black and white together,
right stick button,
left stick button,
left and right sticks towards each other,
tap b,
tap y
Benefits: Azurik gets an Afro.
Problems: None.
- Arbitrary save game –
White,
dpad up, dpad down,
a, b,
click right stick
Benefits: Save more often to reduce backtracking.
Problems: Many.
You can easily save in an unsafe manner.
Don’t save:
q On
a moving platform – restore and the platform is somewhere else and you fall to
your death
q In
the middle of a boss battle (esp the Fire Boss) where you get stuck in a
platform with no way out because the Fire Boss isn’t there to fight
q Near
too many enemies which respawn when you restore and kill you. Sometimes the God Mode cheat will help you
recover from this.
q Near
a moving platform that comes around and whacks you unexpectedly, perhaps
knocking you to your death
q While
doing the cheat, you will swing your Axion and move forward slightly; you might
swing and move forward and fall off a platform and then save, thus ruining your
save game
q While
falling to your death – very bad – you’ll just keep dying when you restore
q While
near dangerous objects like in the middle of some electric forest trees or
other environmentally dangerous features.
q Near
a low overhang – you might respawn in an object. The fix is to jump and hit a lot until you manage to escape.
q Above something that can kill you
like lava.
q Any location that changes game
state during play. For example: on platforms that were once encased in ice (air
realm), forcefield walkways that are non existent unless you throw a switch
(life realm), rocks that crumble to into lava (fire realm), platforms that
crumble into thin air (tree/air realm), etc.
Do:
q Always back up your game to a memory card in a safe location in case something bad like this happens.
q Always save in some dark corner that is on solid, non-changing ground away from creatures. I've followed this and had no probs.
Notes: This was the first cheat released, but not to the web. It was to an individual who went and blabbed it out. Sigh. If you screw up and save in an unsafe spot, try using the level cheat to teleport somewhere good.
Time just flies –
Hit black,
left stick button,
right stick button,
A, B,
dpad up,
right stick button.
Benefits: Day / Night cycle goes very fast, so if
you’re bored in the Stormy Sea waiting for things to change, you can turn this
on.
Problems: Day /
Night cycle keeps going fast until you turn it off, so if you turn it on and
try to make all the jumps in the Stormy Sea, day and/or night will probably
cycle before you make all the jumps.
